The Nutrition Research Foundation was established within the Human Nutrition Unit of the University of Sydney in 1979 with the aim of supporting research and improving knowledge of human nutrition in Australia. these objectives remain to this day.

Many of the major diseases of our society are related to nutritional imbalance and vigorous research is needed to provide a scientific basis for the food industry, to reliably inform the public about nutrition and as a foundation upon which to develop nutritional policies for the future.
